“Ban-Doh @ FORMOSA” exhibition has invited Taiwanese artists and designers to be the contributors to this feast. With no pre-set topic, the exhibition provides great flexibility to allow creativity to flourish. Through this platform, we hope to promote and inspire originality amongst creators and invigorate the interaction between the organisers, exhibitors and the public. As an important milestone, the FORMOSA team is launching the first exhibition in London with the festive season beginning from the 9-13th of June 2010 at Candid Arts Trust Gallery, London.
The UALTWS (University of Arts London Taiwanese Society) and the FORMOSA team have invited 6 prominent judges from different areas of art and design industry, including jotta exhibition head curator Ellie Greig, jotta head of Graphic Design Jane Trustram, head of University of the Arts London Curation Society Rayne Perry, fashion designer and independent Taiwanese curators from the FORMOSA team to examine and appraise the submitted artworks. Working with more than 200 art works from nearly a hundred artists, the artwork selected consists of a variety of visual arts, illustration, photography, digital arts, space arts, architectural works, industrial design showpieces as well as chic clothing and jewelry fashion.

Ban-Doh．辦桌，一個具備了三百多年傳統，隨著福建先民飄洋過海的台灣文化。
過去的台灣，農村社會每逢年節婚慶，父老們敲鑼打鼓、婦女們洗手作羹湯、動員全村，只為獻上一桌桌豐盛美味的佳餚，好在有朋自遠方來之時，拿出最誠摯的真心款待。經過時代的潮流以及文化的變革，辦桌逐漸融合傳統與現代，紅色圓桌上的料理不再僅是滿漢全席，出現了來自遠洋的新鮮菜色。這些異國料理，又經過廚師的巧手，化身為一道道台灣獨有的鄉土味。隨著時空歷練，辦桌文化，如今在台灣現代化都市中逐漸消聲匿跡，偶爾在人情味濃厚的鄉鎮中，才能窺見它紅色的歡騰身影。
文化在變，可其中不變的，卻是根深蒂固的台灣人文氣息。辦桌呈現的，是最純樸且純粹的台灣人情味，也最直接而毫無保留的反映台灣對於傳統與當代、本土與外來文化的兼容並蓄。這樣一項獨特的文化精神，便是 University of Arts London Taiwanese Society(UALTWS) 與 FORMOSA team，倫敦藝術大學台灣會，策劃「Ban-Doh．辦桌 @ FORMOSA」展覽最初的中心思想。
經歷日本殖民文化、國民政府遷移、中西文化交流、還有現代化與科技的衝擊，台灣的藝術設計長久以來備受多方影響。從過去數十年的學院派美術教育、到今天自由奔放的創意發想和自我認同的藝術價值深省，台灣新新藝術家和設計師的創作，就宛如負責統籌辦桌活動的總舖師，在承襲百年傳統的之際，不忘將當代新鮮概念融入每一道菜色，最後，端出一盤盤嶄新的感官盛宴。「Ban-Doh．辦桌 @ FORMOSA」 期望探討的，便是這麼一個從外在—多元文化影響—到內在—獨立個體思想—經過藝術家、設計師自我融合轉化後，演繹而出的當代能量。這是 UALTWS 與 FORMOSA team 將這一次的展覽命名為「Ban-Doh．辦桌」的主要原因。
自2009年夏天結成至今，FORMOSA team 一直希望與當代創作文化連結，讓年輕的創意勢力能就透過 FORMOSA team 的雙手，以倫敦為第一步，讓台灣的當代創意在不久的將來，在世界的舞台嶄露光芒。因此，2010年由 UALTWS和 FORMOSA team 聯合策畫的「Ban-Doh．辦桌 @ FORMOSA」，以飲食文化為媒介，從發想到執行，自徵件至選作，以及最後展覽呈現的完美裝盤， UALTWS 和 FORMOSA team 都抱持著當初先民動員全村辦佳餚的精神，邀請台灣新新藝術家和設計師一同拿起鍋碗瓢盆下海掌廚。我們不限定主題、不問背景、更不隨波逐流，給予藝術家和設計師最大的空間，讓來自台灣的創意相互拌炒，回到讓創作者發聲、與觀眾對話的原汁原味。讓大家一起探討、分享傳統和當代之間的拉扯與平衡。同時，令策展者、參展者、觀展者三方重新思考關於藝術家、設計師以及策展人在展覽中擔任的角色，還有創作者與策展人在策展過程中的交錯關係。
為此，UALTWS與 FORMOSA team 特別邀請六位不同領域的藝術設計工作者，包括 jotta 首席策展人Ellie Greig，jotta 視覺設計部門負責人 Jane Trustram，以及倫敦藝術大學 Curation Society 負責人 Rayne Perry，和來自 FORMOSA team 的服裝設計師、還有在倫敦執業的台灣獨立策展人，來擔任選件評審，透過他們的經驗， 在兩百多件作品、近百位藝術家、設計師中，評選出涵蓋視覺藝術、插畫、攝影、工業設計、服裝設計、珠寶設計、影像藝術、空間藝術、建築等多樣創意藝術領域的作品，將「Ban-Doh．辦桌」精神娓娓道來。讓他們和 UALTWS 與 FORMOSA team 一同敲鑼打鼓、「飲藝術，食設計」、辦出一桌珍味佳餚，在倫敦這個全球文化創意產業的首都，款待來自世界各地的親友與貴客。
由 UALTWS 與 FORMOSA team 合作的「Ban-Doh．辦桌 @ FORMOSA」台灣新銳藝術設計聯展，誠摯的感謝所有參予活動與執行展覽的創意新勢力。其中，我們又特別要感謝在我們一無所有、辛苦起步時，對我們伸出援手、給予支持的Sheng Yu Property、Taipec Ltd、Singtax 、Our Travel等多位好朋友，駐英國台北代表處新聞組和文化組的指導，PDAetc的協辦，倫敦時報等媒體的支持，以及一向大力支持新銳藝術家與設計師的jotta與University of Arts London Students’ Union。沒有他們，UALTWS 與 FORMOSA team 無法順利完成企劃，更無法將參與企劃的台灣創作者介紹給英國與全球，他們每一位都是「Ban-Doh．辦桌 @ FORMOSA」計畫中，不可或缺的合作夥伴。
